Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation £37
I have watched and read rave reviews about this foundation. From what I can tell it is creamy and lightweight with a full coverage, satin effect. Sounds good, except that I wear light coverage foundation and currently have four on the go already. I am happy with my current foundations, and with four of them I often mix two together to tailor the finish I'm looking for. So why the hell do I want this? I guess it must be the hype.
Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad- Cocoa Mirage £64
I really want this. The packaging is gorgeous, substantial and luxurious. The eyeshadows are supposedly soft and easy to work with. I wear neutrals on a daily basis and I have myself convinced that I would get that special sense of satisfaction by applying this every day. I have even put this on my Christmas list. I can't justify buying this for the following reasons:
1) I tend to wear one wash of colour on the lid on a daily basis- looking at this palette it would be one of the top two. I can't be arsed with blending and smoking my eye look in the morning so I can already see that the bottom two colours won't be used very much.
2) I have 'dupes' for all of these colours in my collection already
3) That feeling of joy from owning a luxury eyeshadow palette doesn't last long. I bought the Victoria Beckham palette and a single shadow in September and have used each item once. Now when I see them in my drawer I feel slightly ashamed, not special or satisfied.
Diptyque Mini Candle Set £120
I almost bought this. I thought it was such a fantastic deal, what a way to try the collection! I bought the small box last year with 6 candles and enjoyed them all, particularly Ambre which I'd never used before and now have the coloured glass version burning in my living room. I am already aware that candles are a waste of money. I love the way a diptyque candle smells, they really do burn better that their cheaper counterparts and I love the way they make me feel at home. Part of that enjoyment comes from their aesthetic value and actually, these miniatures look pretty pathetic dotted around my house. I didn't enjoy burning the small ones as much as I do the full size, and for £120 I can get three of those instead. I won't do that though, because I already have loads of luxury candles on the go anyway.
Oribe Dry Texturising Spray £39
For some reason I think this product will transform my dull shit hair into hair that looks professionally styled on a daily basis. It won't, my hair will still look shit and I will probably be more aware of it because I'll have used a product, something I rarely do anyway.
Kyshadow Bronze Palette $42 +
I haven't actually worked out how much this costs when converted to pounds with shipping and duties added. I keep thinking that the colours might look really cool on me and it might be really fun to play with. In reality the colours won't suit me, I won't use them anyway and the packaging looks cheap in my opinion. It will cost more that it's worth for me to get hold of it and do I really want to support this brand anyway? No, I don't think I do.
Thanks if you read this, I'm sure there will be more to come in the next few weeks.
